Safety Manager (3/15/10)

Location: Kansas City, MO

Advantage Metals Recycling is the leading scrap metals processor in the Midwest. We are currently looking for a Safety Manager to join our expanding team.

Who are we looking for? A self-starter, who can thrive in an industrial setting and has the ability to communicate effectively with customers at all levels. The right person will have the ability to organize and administer safety programs and protocols across the organization, possess excellent organization skills and the ability to take on significant responsibility while working independently.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, or degree in another discipline with equivalent safety work/industry experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial operations, OSHA, environmental, industrial hygiene, Missouri and Kansas workers’ compensation laws.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in administering industrial safety and hygiene programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of self-discipline and motivation.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Solid computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • CSP designation, or ability to obtain CSP within 1 year.
  • Bilingual (Spanish), preferred.

Description of Duties:

  • Conducts on-going safety/environment audits of facilities; tracks deficiencies and ensures correction of deficiencies.
  • Works with plant management and employees to investigate accidents and incidents.
  • Prepares and presents monthly and annual safety trainings.
  • Develops and implements site-specific safety policies.
  • Performs air sampling and noise level testing.
  • Ensures documentation and recordkeeping is properly completed (includes accidents, investigation reports, workers compensation).

Safety Specialist (3/1/10)

Thomas McGee, LC is recruiting for the position of Safety Specialist.

Primary Function: To develop, plan, coordinate and manage new and existing client safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable client policies and local, state, and federal regulations in accordance with the objectives and procedures outlined by Thomas McGee, LC.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversees the development, management and implementation of a variety of safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by client’s self-insured programs, Group Self-Insurance Trusts, city, state, and federal agencies including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Oversees the implementation and coordination of client safety programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses; develops accident prevention and loss control systems and programs.
  • Oversees and manages the response to and investigation of reports of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions; reviews recommendations and/or takes appropriate action in order to mitigate potential safety, health, and insurance risks
  • Oversees the development and presentation of workers compensation safety training programs
  • Conducts on-going risk management analyses and risk reviews of existing and prospective accounts
  • Maintains safety and risk management reports and attend client and company meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Pursues a program for personal and professional development
  • Upholds and promotes the professional and ethical standards of the agency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Successful record either in insurance or healthcare industry
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures, specifically, OSHA and state workers compensation laws
  • High degree of self-discipline and motivation
  • Extensive interaction with clients
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Demonstrated skills of persuasion, organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops to clients
  • Ability to develop, implement and enforce safety programs and protocols
  • Skill in developing accident prevention and loss control systems
  • Skill in developing and examining operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing strategies and procedures to meet client goals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
  • Solid computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Experience:

  • 5 to 7 years experience is required in insurance and/or healthcare industry

Loss Control Representative (2/19/10)

Location: Des Moines, IA area

Continental Western Group has an opportunity for an experienced Loss Control Rep willing to accept major loss control and safety responsibilities while servicing a territory that includes parts of Iowa and Northern Missouri. Responsibilities will include risk evaluation and risk improvement by working with clients to identify hazards, evaluate controls and improve safety procedures to ultimately reduce or avoid losses. Company car provided as overnight travel is required.

The ideal applicant will live in or around Des Moines and possess a degree in occupational safety and health, engineering or science. Qualified candidates must have 3-5 years of progressive multi-line insurance loss control experience, including Agribusiness. High-level and effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required for establishing and maintaining professional work relationships. A comprehensive knowledge of workers' compensation, property and liability exposures and controls essential. Having an ASP, CSP, ARM or ALCM designation is a plus. Valid drivers license required.

Sr. Senior Consultant/Project Manager (1/27/10)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri

OCCU-TEC, Inc. a Kansas City based company founded in 1983 as a consulting and training firm providing specialized solutions for clients to effectively manage environmental, occupational safety and health risk, control their operational costs, and improve overall productivity is in need of a Senior Safety Consultant / Project Manager.

Position requires a Bachelors of Science degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or similar and minimum of 6-8 years experience. The successful candidate will have at least 3-5 years of occupational safety and health classroom training experience, as well as having experience in delivering instructor-led online training solutions, both synchronous and asynchronous.

Independently motivated and ability to manage multiple client portfolios a must. Business development and marketing aptitude is also a must. Must be an authorized OSHA instructor, and CSP and/or CIH highly desired.
